About

I have a fascination with everything!

My diversity of interests and fascination with the unique, strange, and odd manifested itself early on. Growing up in Northern Virginia in the early 1960’s and 70’s, my parents quickly settled on my family nickname, ‘Old Weird John’. My eclectic interests have grown over the years.

I’m a sportsfan, a cyclist, a homebrewer, a chef, a horror buff, a website creator, a musician, a husband, a father, a beekeeper, a gardener, a US Marine, a Registered Nurse…

And a writer.

I write about those things for which I’m nostalgic. I write about life happenings that are compelling. I write about what I love.

This is the History of Weird.

I hope you enjoy my words and I welcome yours!

Just listened to a fucking piece of work. Wonderful story. Reminds me of my marine father. I was at bell helicopter where they were building the prototype of the V-22. I was a young Navy engineer spending a few weeks training with the Marine organization overseeing the work. The marines in the office taunted me mercilessly until one said: “I hope none of this is getting to you. We don’t mean anything by it.” I said that’s OK it doesn’t bother me I’ve been putting up with this shit all of my life. The taunting stopped.
